Mt. Abram Ascent

Event Description:

The Mt. Abram Ascent is back!

This classic mountain climb takes racers up 2-miles of mowed ski trails to the summit of Mt. Abram where you'll have dramatic views of the Western Maine foothills. The descent will begin on ski trails and end on a section of single track hiking trail in the woods, before reaching the finish line at the Mt. Abram base lodge.

The 3.5 course has about 1000 feet of elevation over the first two miles. Footing is good throughout with the section in the woods requiring a bit extra care and awareness while running.

Price:

$30/$35 ----- Solo (Early Bird/Normal)

*Youth 16 & under always race for $15

Mt. Abram Packed Powder Fest

Join us Saturday, March 10th for a mix of race activity in one of our last events of the season to benefit WinterKids!

7:30am Registration opens ~ 8:30am Ski Mountaineering Shotgun Start ~ 9:00am Fat Tire Bike + Snowrun/Snowshoe Shotgun Start 

Race Options: Solo 5km Snowhoe/Snowrun   Solo 1000'/3000' Ski Mountaineering   5km Fat Tire Bike Race

The snowshoe, snowrun and fat tire races will all share the same 5km course at different times. 

Baxter Outdoors is proud to partner with TruStrength Athletics for the Ski Mountaineering portion.

Ski mo racers choose from a 1000' vert course/1 lap or 3000' vert option 3 lap course. Each lap includes 1000' of vertical.

Ski mo will be open to all telemark, Randonee/AT and split boarders.

All courses will start and finish from the Mt Abram base lodge with awards held afterwards. Stick around for a free Baxter Beer!

Sign up individually for each event. In the 5km snowshoe/snowrun, racers may chooses to snowshoe or fun depending on conditions and whichever they feel may be faster.

Snowshoers and snowrunners will compete in the same race category.

PRICES:        Early bird rates end on February 10th

Uphill Challenge (4.5km) -Telemark, AT, Snowshoe/Snowboard

Saturday, March 12, 2016 

This 5km ascent/descent can be tackled with telemark gear, an AT setup, a snowshoe/snowboard rig, or splitboard. Tele, AT skiers, and splitboarders will require skins. The course will ascend up Round A-Bout and Sweeper and descend on Easy Rider.

Piggy backing off of Mt. Abram's pre-existing Wild West Festival, the race will be followed by live music and specials on Baxter beer.

The Winter Cowboy 5k is a five kilometer costume foot race throughout the recreational trails at Mt. Abram. Racers may choose to run or snowshoe on the groomed course. In addition to regular podium finishers, prizes will be awarded for best costume.

Winter Cowboy 5k

Yeehaw partner! Join Baxter Outdoors for the most happening (and probably only) winter wild west race this side of the Mississippi.

Following the race, Mt. Abram will fire up the grills, tap the Baxer kegs, and serve up a free outdoor concert to all in attendence. It's a day great that you'll be glad you were a part of.
