The Power of SHE 5K BOOTCAMP

at the Maine Women’s Expo ~ Thompson’s Point, Portland, ME


What is a 5K Boot Camp?  It is a bootcamp in which you will also complete a 5K!

Something magical happens when women gather to workout together
in the spirit of taking bigger steps toward a better you!

Bring your girlfriends, sisters, daughter, mothers, step-mothers, grandmothers, aunts and nieces.

Come celebrate the power of what a woman can do. The Power of SHE. The day will be epic.


We are partnering with Maine Women’s Magazine to create a Fun 5K Boot Camp to celebrate the Power of a Woman.  This event will take place before the Maine Women’s Expo at Thompson’s Point, Portland.

This fun event will take place on the grounds of  Thompson’s Point with the city and the river in the background….  We will have a fun workout all together and we will accomplish a 5K while doing it! The workout will be formatted to handle everyones level of fitness.  Go at your own pace while doing strength and cardio exercises outside with nature.  
Our fabulous coach….. Faye Maier 
Having grown up playing soccer and other competitive sports, Faye found a renewed interest in fitness after the birth of her second daughter.   Faye is most passionate about sharing her love of fitness and a healthy lifestyle with her 2 daughters and women everywhere.  She hopes that her message of being strong and fit comes in many different forms, and we should love our bodies for giving us the ability to do the things we love to do.  Faye lives in Scarborough with her family and has been a personal trainer for the last 5 years.

Welcome to the first annual Sterling Rope Vertical Challenge, speed climbing competition! 

This will be a double elimination, head to head event! Maine's own Sterling Rope is hosting the first competition of its kind in Portland - a double elimination, head to head, outdoor speed climbing competition at Thompson's Point. Climbers will test their bouldering skills on a 28-foot vertical climbing wall provided courtesy of Evo Rock in Portland.

$20 Entry fee includes: entry to event, Baxter Outdoors Multi-use Bandana Buff, Entry to the Life Happens Outside Festival (Saturday only)

30th Annual Maine Children Cancer Program Walk

Please join us for the 2017 Maine Children's Cancer Program Walk! This year's event is set to take place on Saturday, September 16th, 2017 at multiple locations across the state of Maine, including Brunswick, Portland, Rockland, Rumford, and Waterville.

Thousands of people will be participating statewide as we walk in solidarity to show support and raise funds and awareness for local kids battling cancer and blood disorders. Each dollar raised stays here in Maine and supports state-of-the-art equipment, psychosocial services for the patient and their family, and research to help find a cure for childhood cancer. With your support, we can collectively make a huge difference in the lives of local children battling cancer.

The 2017 Maine Children's Cancer Program WALK will take place simultaneously in five locations across Maine on Saturday, September 16, 2017. The purpose of the MCCP WALK is to raise both awareness and funds for the Maine Children's Cancer Program, Maine's comprehensive, world-class treatment center for children fighting cancer and blood disorders.

Individuals, teams and companies can participate in the MCCP WALK by registering online and collecting donations as a team. Money that is raised through the MCCP WALK helps to finance state-of-the-art equipment, psychosocial services and research to help find a cure for childhood cancer. All contributions stay in the state of Maine and help our local children and their families.

Each WALK will begin at 9am, with registration beginning at 8am. Please note, all WALK routes are roughly 3 miles long so be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes!

MS Harborfest


MS Harborfest Weekend - August 18 - 20, 2017  

MS Harborfest is a three-day festival of sailboats, tugboats, and lobster boats combined with a shoreside benefit auction celebrating the glory of the Portland waterfront. Founded in 1982 as the MS Regatta by Merle Hallett of Handy Boat and Dan Wellehan of Sebago, Inc., it has grown into an array of pleasure boats and working boats all under the banner of MS Harborfest. Since that first race 35 years ago, the weekend-long event has raised more than $3 million to help the National Multiple Sclerosis Society help everyone affected by MS to live their best lives as we stop MS in its tracks, restore what has been lost, and end MS forever. 

Join the fleet of sailboat captains, lobster boat racers, tugboat crews, and auction attendees and join the movement to create a world free of multiple sclerosis.  The money you raise at MS Harborfest provides vital MS services and cutting-edge MS research to help more than 3,000 Mainers and 2.3 million worldwide who are living with multiple sclerosis.

Join us for a paddling pilgrimage in the islands of Maine this summer; a journey of connection, regeneration and renewal over 3.5 days.

Beginning with dinner and gear prep in Gorham, ME on Thursday evening, we will spend Friday, Saturday and Sunday paddling, sharing good adventure, good food, great music, some thoughtful dialogue and silent paddle meditation.

Itinerary: This year’s itinerary will leave from Portland and end in Harpswell, Maine.

Accommodations: Overnights will be glorified tenting, paddlers provide tents unless specific arrangements are made.

Mileage: The Regatta typically covers between 25-35 miles over the course of the weekend (7-14 mi/day), and the event is intended for practiced paddlers with some experience, though now and again we have bold greenhorns step up.

Age: Regatta participants tend to be 18 and over. We will consider exceptions to this guideline…but please ask.oat type: We tend to be biased toward closed cockpit human powered vessels 16′ and longer equipped with a functional skeg or rudder.

Gear Needs: If you don’t have a boat, paddle, tent, sleeping bag, etc. we can likely help you find one.

Pricing: $500

Flow Fund: We donate 10% of proceeds to charities chosen by our paddlers. Since 2013, we’ve donated $3400 to 6 worthy organizations: The Maine Island Trail Association, Rippleffect, The Good Life Center, The Wooden Boat School and The Lovers Lane Council Treehut.
Mojo: The Regatta is prone to magical moments like: hot rock sunbathing, wild rainbows, post-paddle massage therapy, surfing otters, dawn yoga, lobster bake, council medicine, acoustic serenades, snacktician support vessels, crazy squalls, tidal zone discoveries, silent paddle meditation with eagles, bonfire belly dancing, seals and osprey, pre-meal poems, mermaids, geocaches and deep connections…
