Wildlands Adventure Challange

The Wildlands Adventure Challange will take place for the first time on Saturday, October 6, 2018.

The Strong Machine Adventure Racing team is excited to be putting on an all-new event in the Wildlands in Orland, Maine. It's a beautiful and remote part of the Pine Tree State, full of fun trails, pristine lakes, and mountaintops with amazing viewpoints. And the viewpoints will be even more stunning during the race, which will take place at the peak of fall foliage.

A beginners' race will give those new to adventure racing a fun yet gentle introduction to the sport. The beginners' race will last between one and three hours and will include hiking and kayaking in provided boats.

For those seeking a bigger challenge, an 8-hour race will including hiking or trail running, kayaking, and mountain biking. This race will be part of the U.S. Adventure Racing Association points series.

Both races will be hosted by the Great Pond Mountain Conservation Trust and all proceeds from the race will benefit the trust. The course will be designed by the members of Strong Machine Adventure Racing, a nationally ranked adventure race team based in Portland, Maine and the organizers of the Maine Adventure Summer Race!

Prices for the beginners' race are $40 per adult and $20 per child, and the cost for the 8-hour race is $80 per adult and $40 per child. To register, visit https://runsignup.com/Race/ME/Orland/WildlandsAdventureChallenge.
