Maine to Host Inaugural All-American Lighthouse Classic
Amateur Baseball Tournament

 

OLD ORCHARD BEACH, Maine (June 20, 2018)TheinauguralAll-American Lighthouse Classic amateur baseball tournament, hosted by Firecracker Baseball of Rhode Island, gets under way this week, with 36 teams from across New England competing from June 21 through June 25 at venues throughout southern Maine.

 

“Every student-athlete dreams of playing in a stadium like The Ballpark at Old Orchard Beach, a professional stadium where many Major and Minor Leaguers got their start,” said Mark Cooke, founder of Firecracker Baseball. The organization plans to make the tournament an annual tradition in Maine.

“Working with the Maine Sports Commission to bring this tournament here has been an absolute treasure. We run events in other communities throughout the northeast, and we are so proud and excited to bring this event to Maine,” added Cooke, calling it a “a win-win for everyone involved.”

Who: 36 teams, including the local Southern Maine River Rats, Maine Sluggers, and Maine Lightning, and out-of-state teams including the Nor-Easters (MA), Providence Sports & Leadership (RI), Essex Post 91 (VT), NH Bobcats (NH) and West Hartford Post 96 (CT)
