Runners and Beer Drinkers Unite

Fitness and fun will come together this weekend at Portland’s Edward Payson Park at the Craft Brew Races. On Saturday, the national running and craft beer festival series will return to Portland on August 18th for the fifth consecutive year. A portion of the proceeds from the Portland Craft Brew Race will be donated to the Maine Brewer’s Guild.
“We’re excited to be back in Portland this year for the fifth annual event,” says Matt Gray, President of Gray Matter Marketing, which produces the event series. “Portland was the first city where our team hosted a Craft Brew Races event. Maine has a vibrant craft brewing scene, and we enjoy seeing new and old favorite breweries  join in on the fun.”
The Portland Craft Brew Race course is 3.1 mile/5K run (or walk), following a full loop of Portland’s Back Cove. The course follows Baxter Blvd. and the Back Cove Trail, featuring scenic, waterfront views throughout. Prizes are on the line for top three male and female runners, largest team, largest brewery team, and fastest team.
The race finishes just steps from the beer festival location. At the festival, in addition to included beer samples at the festival, water, Polar Seltzer and Kind Snacks will be available to runners. Food vendors will also be on site. Designated driver and festival-only tickets are available.
The run starts at noon, with the festival doors opening at 12:30. All 5K participants and festival-goers receive a pint glass and entry to the festival — including beer sampling, live music, vendors and food trucks selling onsite. All designated driver ticket-holders receive a different bracelet at registration, and are welcome to enjoy the festival, designated snacks, and non-alcoholic beverages. The event is 21+ only.
More than 30 breweries will be pouring samples of their brews at the festival, in addition to food and product vendors. Visit for a full vendor list and tickets.
Of the vendors, there are 18 Maine-based breweries participating in the event:
Allagash Brewing Company (Portland)
Definitive Brewing Company (Portland)

8th Annual AIDS Walk/Run of Central Maine

8th Annual AIDS Walk/Run of Central Maine
Saturday May 13, 2017 9 a.m.
Waterfront Park, Hallowell, ME

(Rain or Shine)

Plans for the 8th annual AIDS Walk/Run of Central Maine benefitting the Horizon Program at MaineGeneral Medical Center are well under way! This is our biggest fundraiser of the year and we need your help.
The mission of the Horizon Program is to provide quality, compassionate, and comprehensive medical and social services to all identified people living with HIV/AIDS in central and mid-coast Maine. With a clinic in Gardiner and offices in Augusta, the program provides:

*A clinic for medical services and interaction with health care professionals;

*Case management for people living with HIV/AIDS;

*Educational programs and community outreach;

*Support for people infected and affected by HIV/AIDS.

Incredible progress has been made in the fight against HIV/AIDS, but a cure has not been found. Every year there are still 50,000 new HIV/AIDS cases nationwide and we need to continue to raise awareness to prevent this disease.

Whether it is a friend, parent, child, relative or significant other, many people are touched by HIV/AIDS. We walk to pay tribute to those loved ones who have died and support those who are living with this disease.

2018 Course Map

Ragged Mountain Scuttle Heat update 9_21-18

What’s New in 2018- We listened to your suggestions so get ready for…. *** Be a team captain and get some cool captain swag *** New obstacles

The Ragged Mountain Scuttle, Sept 23rd – is a 5K adventure race on the Kuller trail at the Camden (Maine) Snow Bowl, where mountains meet the sea. Runners/Walkers will enjoy the ragged terrain and a beautiful view at the top.

Basic Course Info- The course offers a variety of natural and man-made obstacles over a 5K course with plenty of elevation gain. Whether you’re racing as a team or an individual, we promise this will be an event you’ll be happy you signed up for. The majority of the 5k is on the Kuller trail, an intermediate level trail. The trail does has some steep pitches, and climbs 500 feet. The course will begin and end directly behind the snow bowl lodge.

Children’s Course –If your child loves climbing, jumping and rolling like a Ninja, the children’s course is a must-do experience.

It takes place at the base behind the Snow Bowl lodge. Cost is a $5 donation for unlimited use of the course. It’s within view from inside the lodge.

Waved Start- The event will have a few waves beginning every 15 minutes. The first wave is at 10 a.m. and the last wave is at 1:30 p.m. When you select your heat time, you’ll receive a confirmation via email with your start time before race day. NOTE: Register early because heat times are on a first-come basis, and once a heat time is full, it’s closed.

Arrival- Please arrive 45 minutes before your Wave Start time to register, and get your bib and information. Music, food, children’s course, bounce house and beer will be available throughout the day.

Parking- Parking is available at the Snow Bowl Lodge, at the base of Ragged Mountain, as well as along the road leading to the Snow Bowl.

Icy Elf 5K

Santa Claus is coming to town and the elves will be working hard all day to get Waldoboro ready for his arrival. But it's bound to be cold, so we're organizing a 5K to get everyone's blood moving and warm before Santa shows up!

So join us for our 2nd annual festive run through town. We'll have hot chocolate and candy canes, Christmas lights and prizes (even one for the best dressed elf).  Local businesses will be open late with hot drinks and snacks and gifts you can buy to finish off your Christmas shopping.

We'll have Christmas-themed age group prizes. Plus, an elf at the finish line to congratulate you on your run. And so many more prizes and giveaways to announce as we get closer to race day.

Registration is $15 until September 1st/$20 on race day. You can also register in advance at Long Winter Soap Co in the Village.

Walkers are always welcome!

Monies raised go toward efforts to revitalize and promote the historic Waldoboro Village.

NRCM Polar Bear Dip & Dash

NRCM's 11th Annual

The 5k registration will open at 9:00 a.m. at the Back Cove Parking lot. The race will start at 11 a.m. The dip will be at noon at East End Beach, Portland. A shuttle will return participants to the Back Cove parking lot after the dip. If you are dipping only, head straight to East End Beach where registration will open at 11 AM.

The non-refundable, early "bear" registration fee to dip, dash, or both is $30 until November 15 and then increases to $35. Additionally, friends and family can pledge you through our secure webpages. See prizes for hitting fundraising levels below.

A 5k and polar bear dip in winter in Maine to raise funds to combat global warming is fitting. Weather patterns are changing from one extreme to the next and our seas are rising. The effects of climate change on Maine’s environment are severe.

Energy efficiency, clean air, and renewable energy sources are a priority for NRCM. Every cent you raise will be used to directly support this work to reduce global warming emissions.
