Polar Bear Dip & Dash - 5k - National Resources Council of Maine 

Join us to earn bragging rights while helping us raise awareness about climate change and funds in support of our work to keep Maine a special place! 

Energy efficiency, clean air, and renewable energy sources are a priority for National Resources Council of Maine (NRCM). Every cent raised from the Dip & Dash will be used to directly support our work for a clean energy future for Maine.

5K “warm up” run around Portland’s Back Cove trail: 11:00 a.m.
(Registration started at 9:00 a.m. at the Back Cove parking lot across from Hannaford)

Polar Bear Dip into Casco Bay: Noon
Shuttle returned participants to Back Cove parking lot after dip.

Penobscot Nation Community Building, 12 Wabanaki Way, Indian Island

This is a gorgeous race route comprised of road and trail running along the Penobscot River and into Old Town.   Hats will be available to the first 75 registrants.  Native made traditional baskets will be awarded to the first male and female 8K winners. Native made crafts will be awarded in the other categories.

This race raises money for diabetes prevention and awareness.  Diabetes disproportionally affects tribal members and the monies raised will be put to use in the Penobscot Nation Community, while a portion will also be donated to the American Diabetes Association. 

Ralph is an inspiration to many Penobscot runners and is in the Maine Running Hall of Fame.  He has participated in this race in his honor from the very beginning.

The 5th annual Downeast Double Trouble Trail Races will take place on Sunday, October 29 (hosted by Great Pond Mountain Conservation Trust) and Sunday, November 5 (hosted by FBC). The FBC Autumn Trail Race will begin at Sumner High School on Route 1 in Sullivan. This year’s race will feature both a 4.2 mile race course along with a second, approximately 8-mile route.
