Blackstrap Offroad Classic

Solo 5km Trail Run

Join Baxter Outdoors at the Blackstrap Preserve on Saturday, July 15 in Falmouth for a fun, challenging trail race, close to home. This 5km trail run will take place mostly on single track, multipurpose trails and will be followed with snacks and cool down beers for all racers over 21. 

Race entry will be limited to 75 total competitors.

$25/$30 ----- 5km Trail Run (EarlyBird/Normal)

Course: An early and quick scenic run through the outskirts of town. This route includes two steep upgrades, one at the start of the race and the second at the two mile mark. Maps will be available on the day of the race. Splits will be given at the 1 and 2 mile marks and a water station will be available at the halfway point.

Awards/Categories: Prizes will be awarded to the first male and female finishers. Awards will also be given to the first and second place male and female finishers in the following age categories:12 and under, 13 – 16, 17 – 19, 20 – 29,
30 – 39, 40 – 49, 50 – 59, 60 – 69, 70 and over. Additional awards will be given to the first Male and Female “Lisbon Resident” finishers!

The Maine Second Chance Lodge opens June 24, 2017, welcoming combat-injured veterans and their families for week-long summer experiences. 

On April 10, 2012, United States Army Staff Sergeant Travis Mills of the 82nd Airborne was critically injured on his third tour of duty in Afghanistan by an IED (improvised explosive device) while on patrol, losing portions of both legs and both arms. He is one of only five quadruple amputees from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan to survive his injuries. His foundation is creating a national retreat to help veteran families unite with the land, water, nature and each other to revitalize themselves and to keep moving forward. The retreat will be uniquely designed to provide state-of-the-art “smart home” technology in a relaxed lodge setting. It will fill a vital role in recovery, camaraderie, spousal support, re-connection, and reintegration. Veteran families from all over the United States will enjoy a week of swimming, boating, fishing, site-seeing, campfires, adaptive sports, and much more.We are honored to be associated with the Travis Mills Foundation as our Official Beneficiary Organization. Never quit.”  Following the 2016 event, USA SwimRun was pleased to contribute $10,000 to the foundation, and we look forward to increasing the 2017 award.

Nearly four decades ago, residents of the Kennebec Valley first came together to celebrate the river that unifies our region. What started with a carefree race down the Mighty Kennebec River has transformed into the top-notch two week family festival we celebrate today! 

The Whatever Family Festival will kick off with the Blistered Fingers Bluegrass Festival in Litchfield and ends with fireworks on July 4th. This two week-long festival has events throughout the Kennebec Valley, from Gardiner to Winthrop and everywhere in between. The Whatever Family Festival is celebrating its 40th Anniversary with new excitement!

About This Event

The Wyatt Frost Memorial Annual 5K Run and Fun Walk. The 5K Event will kick off at 10:30 AM and the Fun Walk at 11:00 AM. 

The first 100 to register for the 5K race will receive a promotional bag and participation medal. 

Single Runner Registration is $30.00 (includes t-shirt) by May 20, 2017. After that date, registration will be $30.00 without t-shirt. 

Family Fun Walk Registration is $25.00 for up to a family of 4. Trail is handicap accessible. 

The first 100 families to register will receive a family promotional bag and four participation bracelets 

Established by Wyatt’s family and friends, the primary goal of the Wyatt Frost Memorial Foundation is provide support to children with Autism and disabilities by raising at least $30,000 a year to provide scholarship money for a preschool integration program at Morrison Center that will provide an environment for both typical and special needs children to learn and grow together. WFMF will provide support to other programs as resources and needs are identified.

Please join us after the race/walk for a few hours of family fun! Food, bounce houses, face painting, vendor/sponsor tables, raffles, silent auction and more!
The 5K running course will turn left out of Kennebunk Elementary School onto Route 35 (Alewive Road) to Alfred Road. Then Right onto Alfred Road to Thompson Road. Right on Thompson Road to Route 35 (Alewive Road). Right on Route 35 (Alewive Road) to Kennebunk Elementary School. 3.2 Miles. This course is not certified.

From North Bound Exit - Take a right onto Route 35 and then a right after the turnpike overpass onto Route 35 (Alewive Road). The School is at 177 Alewive Road.

A graduate of Old Orchard Beach High School in 1985, Christopher Cash left his mark in the school community not only through his excellence in academics and athletics, but also through his good nature and great outlook on life. In 1987, Chris joined the Army where he would begin his seventeen plus years of military service. While in the Army, Chris continued to value the education process and completed both a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Exercise Physiology. He earned is undergraduate degrees from North Carolina Wesleyan College and East Carolina University and his post graduate degree from East Carolina University, where he was awarded “Alumnus of the Year” for 2004.

When Chris was not on active duty with the United States Army, he worked as an exercise physiologist in North Carolina and enjoyed being a husband and the father of two sons. On June 24th, 2004, Captain Christopher Scott Cash was killed in action while leading his Infantry Company against insurgents in Baqubah, Iraq. Captain Chris Cash was the Commanding Officer of Co. A, 1st/120th Inf. Reg., 30thHSB, 30th Brigade Combat Team.
The Captain Christopher Scott Cash Memorial Scholarship is awarded each year to outstanding students whose character represents that which Captain Cash stood for. The recipients must be athletes who have also shown strength in other important aspects of life. The recipients should be students who have unselfishly given to his/her community, is committed to his/her goals, conducts him/herself among others in an exemplary way, and plans to further his/her education. Our goal is to award three $1,000.00 scholarships to graduating seniors from Old Orchard Beach High School and Thornton Academy in Saco, Maine. Each applicant is required to write a one or two page essay displaying personal evidence that he or she has similarities to the aforementioned attributes.
Nancy and Robert Kelley decided a fitting tribute to their son would be to organize an annual 5K Run to benefit their scholarship fund, which was set up in July 2004, shortly after Christopher was killed in combat. Donations are greatly appreciated and all proceeds go directly into the Scholarship Fund. It is with great pride to award these deserving students scholarships in memory of our son, Christopher Cash. Since 2005, over $24,500.00 in scholarships have been awarded.

Rancourt's Run/Walk 5K - June 24, 2017 at 8am

5K Run or Walk - Registration fee is $20. Online registration closes on June 23rd at 11pm EST. 

Rancourt’s Run/Walk 5K is to benefit Special Olympics Maine, in honor of Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Deputy David J. Rancourt. It is a Law Enforcement Torch Run Event, to be held at Central Maine Community College 1250 Turner St. Auburn, ME on Saturday, June 24th 2017 at 8 am. Plenty of parking on site. Race day registration table and t-shirt/bib pickup open at 6:30. Awards will be given to top finishers in all age groups, and TONS OF FREE GIVE-AWAYS. Strollers allowed. Celebrate Husson Run for the Gold

Celebrate Husson! Run for the Gold! June 24, 2017 ~ 9:30am

Husson Campus, One College Circle, Bangor


Take over campus during a Husson-themed color run during Celebrate Husson!

This run is a chance for you, your family, and friends to dress up, get dirty, and Run for the Gold! Participants will pass through color zones (made from corn starch) at different spots on the course that will cover you in Husson spirit. Wear your own white to run the race and we'll provide all 5K participants with a Sport-Teck moisture-wicking shirt to make the ride home a little less messy! All participants will receive a finisher medal and proceeds will support scholarships for Husson University students.
